The Award is named after George Askew who was the first person to receive a CPM designation. George Askew served as the President of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Managers in 1990 and 1991 and as President for the American Academy of
Certified Public Managers in 1992-93. Several years later, George Banks, a Past President of both the Florida Society and the American Academy, recommended that a national award in Askew’s honor be developed to recognize students’ efforts throughout
all states’ CPM programs. The Criteria for Florida’s award includes a demonstration of understanding of the Projects Objectives, applying the principles and practices learned from the CPM program; serving as a resource or example for other public managers and basic project
organization. A judging committee made up of Florida Society Officers and Board of Directors reviewed each submission. The Florida Askew Award is presented in during the Level VIII Graduation Ceremony, by our Society President. The 2010 FSCPM Askew Award Committee members are: Sherry Valdes, Fred Levinson, Laura Gorman, Christine Taylor and Loretta Krause. Loretta's participation carries on the FSCPM tradition of having a member of the current FSCPM Askew Award winning team (Polk County Tax Collector's Office, Check free clearing house) represented on the Committee. The Tax Collector's assignment will been submitted to AACPM as Florida's nominee for this year's AACPM Askew Award. The 2010 FSCPM Askew Award Nomination form is posted below and has been submitted to Dan Vicker for distribution to the current CPM graduation candidates. The nomination deadline is June 1, 2010 and the winner will be announced at the winner's graduation. |
