MORE INFORMATION Purpose: To provide a comprehensive, systematic management development program that emphasizes knowledge acquisition and skill development for public sector managers at all organizational levels of state and local government in Florida. Overview: This program represents a long-term commitment to the systematic development of the management infrastructure in your department or agency. The following table provides an overview of the requirements and recommended sequence for completing the Certificate in Supervisory Management (CSM) and the Certificate in Public Management (CPM). This Certified Public Managers Program consists of eight levels of training (each level is four training days each) with accompanying reading, project, and exam requirements. Note: Participants can reasonably complete all program requirements within 24-30 months. Pre-selecting Participants: Departments or agencies pre-selecting participants for each level of CPM training experience maximum organizational benefit. By pre-selecting participants for this program, an organization influences and formulates t he composition, size, and quality of its future management workforce. We encourage potential contracting clients to discuss with us the criteria for pre-selection and its implementation, keeping in mind the CPM designation is a professional certification and not an academic designation. In Florida and around the country, many individuals with technical expertise and advanced degrees find themselves in administrative positions needing assistance with their management related responsibilities. The unders tanding and fulfillment of these responsibilities are primary thrusts of the CPM program. Costs: FCPM offers a contracting agency option that includes the arrangement of the meeting site, the scheduling of the trainer, and the provision of all in-class program materials for each level of the program. Basic costs for contracting this management development program are as follows:
The National CPM Consortium leads the nation
in the development of Certified Public Managers. The FCPM Program,
a National CPM Consortium member, is a preferred management
development program by Governor and Cabinet Resolution for the
State of Florida. I n addition to State level participation, many
local government managers enroll and complete the CPM Program.
Florida actively encourages the participation of state agencies in
the development of government managers in order to enhance the
quality and productivity of services delivered to its citizens.
